Ramu Aravindan is a graphic designer and photographer based in Bangalore. His images deal with landscapes, places, objects, and the sense of space and locality they create. About his work he has this to say: “My central fascination with photography is a link I had made up, over time, between photography and the joy of moving around and looking at places—experiencing places. It’s a simple satisfaction and the ‘sense of seeking’ contained in that activity that drew me to photography and continue to draw me to it.” Ramu has worked on photography commissions for books, visual research, and design projects and runs a consultancy, Landeater Design, that creates design and content for communication and documentation projects. He also teaches photography as visiting faculty at art and design schools.holds a Masters in photography from the University of Calgary. Ramu’s works at Images of Encounter Exhibition can be seen here https://www.imagesofencounter.com/ramuaravindan

Rajivan works independently as a sound designer for film, video, choreography along with his own projects that manifest as live performances, installations, interfaces and musical compositions. He is co-founder of VEDANZA Artists International in Luxembourg, where he now lives. He received early training in south Indian/north Indian music: vocal training (1970-1986) as well as string and percussion instruments. He also studied visual arts/design at the National Institute of Design, India (1984-1990). After the design studies, he traveled extensively in India and absorbed pretty well the heterogeneity of Indian sound environment and sound culture. He has presented his work at various art spaces and festivals internationally.

Ekalokam Trust for Photography is a registered foundation, initiated and managed by artists. EtP is dedicated to create, share, and preserve a comprehensive visual “narrative”, especially of the region corresponding to the ancient Tamilakam and its connected maritime cultures across the silk, spice, and incense routes. Now, this is a 2000-year-old history connecting this part of India with the Afro-Arabian, Asian, Mediterranean, and European cultures and lifestyles. EtP's interest is to relook this history parallely in the present times and leave footprints for the future. This sort of focused narrative would serve to highlight our shared history and collective lineage rather than homogenized identities and lifestyles. Looking back at our history critically, not just through photographic practice but also through its overlaps with art movements and other media, is the key to realizing photography’s unlimited potential. EtP's core value is creativity. By encouraging creative expressions, we like to recognize our diversity and promote inclusiveness, peace, and harmony.
