Ekalokam Trust for Photography is a registered foundation, initiated and managed by artists. EtP is dedicated to create, share, and preserve a comprehensive visual “narrative”, especially of the region corresponding to the ancient Tamilakam and its connected maritime cultures across the silk, spice, and incense routes. Now, this is a 2000-year-old history connecting this part of India with the Afro-Arabian, Asian, Mediterranean, and European cultures and lifestyles. EtP's interest is to relook this history parallely in the present times and leave footprints for the future. This sort of focused narrative would serve to highlight our shared history and collective lineage rather than homogenized identities and lifestyles. Looking back at our history critically, not just through photographic practice but also through its overlaps with art movements and other media, is the key to realizing photography’s unlimited potential. EtP's core value is creativity. By encouraging creative expressions, we like to recognize our diversity and promote inclusiveness, peace, and harmony.
